Our Endocrinologist

Dr Kanaka Jeyaraman was born in India and completed her endocrine training at India’s premier institute, All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. She worked as a consultant at Christian Medical College, a renowned tertiary care teaching hospital in southern part of India. She moved to Darwin in 2012 and completed her peer review in Endocrinology. She was awarded a fellowship at the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2015. She worked in the Royal Darwin and Alice Springs Hospitals, before moving to Brisbane in 2022. During her time in the NT, she was heavily involved in professional development, governance and junior doctors’ training. She had an academic appointment as a Senior lecturer at Flinders’ Northern Territory Medical programme.

Dr Kanaka Jeyaraman currently holds a Staff Specialist position with Metro South, QLD Health and has a strong interest in clinical teaching. She is a clinical researcher and believes in research that translates into improved patient outcomes. She has several publications and has written a few textbook chapters. She is a member of the International Society of Endocrinology’s Early Career Committee and a former member of the Endocrine Society of Australia’s Early Career Committee. She is very keen to develop new skills and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Diagnostic genomics.
